Casey began his professional career as a Video Editor then in-house Director of Photography at the Manhattan-based Stick Figure Productions. His time at Stick Figure saw him shooting television pilots, episodic documentary series, and short films. An episode of MSG Networks' The Mask on which he worked earned the 2015 New York Emmy Award for Outstanding Sports Program: Interview/Discussion.
In 2016, Casey shot his first feature film, STEP, a documentary about the senior year of a girls' high-school step team set against the background of inner-city Baltimore. It won the Special Jury Award for Inspirational Filmmaking at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival before being picked up by Fox Searchlight Pictures for theatrical distribution. In its review of the film, Variety praised Casey's "deft camerawork." Since then, he has been the man behind the camera on several feature documentary films at varying stages of production, including Hulu’s Ballet Now, which premiered at the 2018 Seattle International Film Festival.
